Your role and responsibilities Overview

At IBM Consulting, we help organisations rethink how they work using technology, data and human‑centred design. As a graduate, you’ll join a diverse, collaborative team focused on learning, innovation and solving real client problems.

The Role

As an Associate Consultant in Complex Project Management, you’ll help deliver large‑scale transformation programmes that involve multiple teams, technologies and stakeholders. You’ll support project planning, coordination and execution — helping clients stay on track, manage risks, and achieve their strategic goals.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys structure, organisation, communication and bringing people together to deliver outcomes. You’ll be right at the intersection of technology, people and process, learning how major enterprise‑wide change actually happens in the real world.

What You’ll Do
  • Support project planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting activities
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams and ensure key actions are followed through
  • Help run meetings, workshops and stakeholder sessions
  • Analyse project data, risks and dependencies to support decision‑making
  • Assist with documenting requirements, timelines and delivery milestones
  • Develop clear communications tailored to different audiences
  • Support the creation of project governance, RAID logs and delivery frameworks
  • Help define current‑state and future‑state processes for transformation programmes
  • Use IBM Design Thinking and agile methods to support client challenges
  • Work closely with senior project managers to keep programmes on track

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Full work eligibility for the UK (No Visa Sponsorship Available)

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • A final‑year student or recent graduate in Business, Project Management, Engineering, Computing, STEM, or any analytical/people‑focused degree
  • Organised, detail‑oriented and able to keep multiple moving parts aligned
  • Strong communicator who can break down complex information simply
  • Interested in how large organisations manage change and deliver major programmes
  • Comfortable analysing information and supporting evidence‑based decisions
  • Collaborative, proactive and motivated to learn new tools and methods
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to stay focused in fast‑moving environments
