Job Description For Senior Business Analyst (DDaT Aligned)

Lead the analysis and design of digital services by defining, validating, and managing business requirements. Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, ensuring solutions deliver measurable value, meet user needs, and comply with Client and DDaT standards. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts and contribute to strategic decision‑making.

• Requirements Leadership:
  Own the end‑to‑end requirements process; lead workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions to capture complex business, functional, and non‑functional requirements.
• Stakeholder Management:
  Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders; influence decision‑making and manage conflicting priorities.
• Process Optimization:
  Analyse and redesign business processes; identify opportunities for efficiency and digital transformation.
• Data‑Driven Insights:
  Perform advanced data analysis to support business cases and solution design; ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Documentation & Standards:
  Produce high‑quality artefacts including business cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process models; ensure alignment with DDaT and GDS standards.
• Mentorship:
  Coach and support junior analysts; promote best practices in analysis and documentation.

Collaboration:

Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, Designers, and Delivery Managers to ensure requirements are understood and implemented effectively.

Governance & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to security, accessibility, and regulatory standards.

• Advanced Analysis & Synthesis:
  Ability to interpret complex problems and propose actionable solutions.
• Strategic Communication:
  Skilled in presenting to senior stakeholders and facilitating consensus.
• Requirements Engineering:
  Expertise in eliciting, validating, and prioritising requirements for large‑scale digital services.
• Tools & Techniques:
  Proficiency in Jira/Azure Dev Ops, Confluence, BPMN, and data visualization tools.
• User‑Centred Design:
  Strong understanding of user research and service design principles.

• Agile Leadership:
  Experience leading analysis within Agile delivery teams.
• Data Analytics:
  Advanced knowledge of SQL, BI tools, and data modelling.
• Additional tools – Proficiency in collaboration tools like Lucid/ Miro, Figma, etc.
• Domain Knowledge:
  Familiarity with GDS framework and government digital transformation initiatives.

• Proven track record as a Business Analyst in complex digital or IT projects.
• Experience in managing stakeholders at senior levels and influencing strategic decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead analysis activities and mentor junior team members.
• Strong understanding of DDaT and GDS standards.

• Agile, product‑led delivery.
• Lead workshops, backlog refinement, and sprint planning.
• Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across teams.

UK‑based, hybrid working as agreed with Client; BPSS or SC as required.
