Senior Platform Architect - SC Cleared

We are supporting a major public sector data programme seeking a Senior Platform Architect to lead the modernisation of a large-scale, business‑critical data platform within a complex brownfield environment.

This is about reshaping, re‑architecting and stabilising a live, established data ecosystem while aligning it to modern Data & Analytics standards without disrupting service delivery.

You will operate as the senior architectural authority across the platform, driving technical clarity, defining the modernisation roadmap, and guiding teams through complex transformation.

You will lead the architectural evolution of an existing enterprise data warehouse platform (300+ schemas), enabling new upstream microservices, managing large‑scale schema change, and introducing modern ingestion and integration patterns.

The work spans data architecture, infrastructure, security, and cross‑cloud connectivity (AWS to Azure), with a strong emphasis on governance, compliance, and maintaining continuity for critical services.

• Proven experience as a Senior / Lead Architect in complex brownfield environments
• Deep data platform architecture expertise - ingestion, schema evolution, microservices integration, ETL/ELT patterns
• Strong multi‑cloud experience (Azure and AWS) including secure cross‑cloud data transfer
• Experience modernising critical live services without downtime
• Strong infrastructure and security architecture capability (Zscaler, VPC, VPN, identity, secure data boundaries)
• Experience operating within government, public sector or heavily regulated environments
• Ability to align solutions to enterprise standards and digital blueprints
• Hands‑on re‑architecture or large‑scale platform migration experience
• Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to drive decisions in ambiguous environments

• Event‑driven architecture and microservice‑based data contracts
• Kotlin experience and migration to standardised stacks (Java, Python etc.)
• Exposure to Power BI / CoPilot for Power BI / GenAI
• Azure certifications

6 months with extensions

Flexibility but splits between Manchester/Newcastle
