Title: Senior / Lead AWS Dev Ops Contractor

Contract Length: 3 Months – Immediate Start – Outside IR35

Location: Remote (UK)

Description: We’re looking for a highly experienced Senior / Lead Dev Ops Contractor to operate at a senior level, driving architectural decisions, leading delivery, and ensuring secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure across the environment.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Dev Ops Lead to manage a critical cloud migration project, moving a mature platform from AWS to Hetzner to achieve significant cost reduction. This short-term, high-priority role will oversee the migration, maintain operational stability, and lead a small Dev Ops team.

The platform currently runs on AWS with ECS
, k3s Kubernetes
, Redpanda streaming
, and databases including Cassandra, Postgre

SQL, and MongoDB
. Observability is mostly implemented with Grafana
, and deployment pipelines are established.

• Lead the migration of infrastructure from AWS to Hetzner
  , ensuring minimal disruption and cost optimisation.
• Oversee day-to-day platform operations during and after migration.
• Champion Dev Ops best practices including automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Cloud Formation, or similar tools.
• Drive improvements in reliability, security, performance, and cost efficiency

• Mentor and manage 2 Dev Ops engineers
  , providing technical guidance and leadership.
• Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to align migration and Dev Ops strategy with business goals.

• Extensive experience in Dev Ops or platform engineering
  , ideally in senior or lead roles.
• Strong expertise with AWS and experience migrating workloads to alternative cloud providers like Hetzner
  .
• Proven ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/k3s).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging systems (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and scripting (Terraform, Python, Bash).
• Ability to work independently on complex projects and deliver results quickly.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills.
