this is 12month fixed term contract with compensation commiserate with a permanent role in a Quant Trading firm, including full training budget
Our client, a leading Quant Trading firm, is looking to hire a graduate of Cyber Security or Computer Science to join the firms Security Operations and Engineering team. This is an entry-level role for someone passionate about cybersecurity who wants to rapidly develop hands-on experience across detection, incident response, and security engineering. You will work alongside experienced security engineers and be given structured exposure to all aspects of cyber security, with a strong focus on Sec Ops and Security Automation.
ResponsibilitiesSecurity Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor and triage security alerts from SIEM and detection platforms
- Assist with investigating security incidents and tracking them through to resolution
- Learn to distinguish true security events from false positives
- Document findings and contribute to post-incident reviews
- Engage with other users across the business to understand and resolve alerts
- Assist in developing, testing, and improving security detections.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of security monitoring tools.
- Learn how enterprise security systems are designed and integrated.
- Automate simple security tasks using scripting or code.
- Stay up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attacker techniques.
- Apply threat intelligence to improve detections and response playbooks.
- Actively participate in training, labs, and internal knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong understanding of core cyber security concepts (e.g. networking, operating systems,
- Familiarity with either Windows or Linux environments
- Strong programming ability (e.g. Python, Power Shell, Bash, or similar)
- Demonstrated interest in security operations (labs, university projects, internships, CTFs home labs)
