A leading provider of high-performance trading systems is seeking to expand its Network Engineering team to support new products and a growing global client base. The organisation develops advanced futures, options, and equities trading platforms for professional market participants, including financial institutions and trading firms. Known for performance, reliability, and innovation, the company operates in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment.
Role OverviewThe Junior Network Engineer will provide high‑level technical and troubleshooting support for a hosted trading platform used by external customers. The role involves working closely with Network, Support, and Engineering teams to ensure reliable, low‑latency connectivity across a globally distributed infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Respond promptly to network support requests and technical inquiries from customers
- Support and troubleshoot issues related to dedicated line connectivity, VPNs, and exchange connectivity
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain globally distributed data centre infrastructure
- Analyse network connectivity failures and implement corrective solutions
- Document, track, and manage case histories, issues, and actions taken
- Identify and progress solutions for open or unresolved network issues
- Improve and maintain network support documentation, policies, and procedures
- Work directly with new customers and exchange partners to coordinate network design, deployment, and implementation
- Degree in Computer Science or a related IT discipline
- Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role within the financial services industry
- Networking certification (CCNA minimum; CCNP-level knowledge preferred)
- Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, VPLS, and data centre networking
- Experience with routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
- Red Hat Linux installation and administration experience
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise hardware and networking platforms (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Dell, HP, SAN technologies)
- Understanding of high‑availability and redundant infrastructure design
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware) and data centre environments
- Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g. AWS) is advantageous
- Previous experience troubleshooting electronic trading network systems
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience supporting electronic exchanges such as ICE, Eurex, LSE, Euronext, CME, or similar
- Knowledge of Tibco Rendezvous and Oracle
- Familiarity with global WAN architectures
- Customer‑focused, with a strong commitment to issue resolution
- Able to manage and prioritise a high volume of work effectively
- Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Performs well under pressure in time‑critical environments
- Willing to work beyond standard business hours when required to resolve issues
- Detail‑oriented and takes pride in the quality of work delivered
- Collaborative team player who treats colleagues with respect and professionalism
- Comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions, and escalating issues appropriate
