IT & AV Support Specialist
Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a part-time IT & AV Support Specialist to join the Information Services team providing a high‑quality, responsive support service to all University staff and students.
Salary and Pay£17,413 rising to £19,490 per annum (0.5 FTE actual; FTE £34,827 to £38,981 per year). Grade 5 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.
Contract and Working HoursPermanent, part‑time contract (17.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE). Monday to Friday, term‑time 5 pm – 8:30 pm, out‑of‑term time 3:30 pm – 7 pm.
Responsibilities- Deliver front‑line support for the deployment, maintenance and use of all computers and classroom‑based audio‑visual equipment at the University.
- Provide second‑line support and collaborate with specialist technical teams to deliver solutions to users, ensuring first‑time fixes wherever possible.
- Support users from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds in highly demanding environments.
- Maintain a customer‑focused service for students, academic and teaching staff, and services staff throughout the year.
- Significant previous experience of providing second‑line support and working with specialist technical teams.
- Solid, demonstrable understanding of Microsoft Windows and Networking, ideally gained in a corporate environment.
- Experience supporting audio‑visual equipment in a classroom environment and a background in higher education is an advantage.
- Strong self‑motivated approach, ability to work at pace, and competence to deliver first‑time fixes for Birkbeck users.
