Policy Expert is a forward-thinking business that loves to get things done. Leveraging proprietary technology and smart data, we offer reliable products and a wow customer experience.

Having achieved rapid growth since being founded in 2011, we’ve won over 1.5 million customers in Home, Motor and Pet insurance and have been ranked the UK’s No.1-rated home insurer by Review Centre since 2013. 🏆

At Policy Expert, data is at the heart of everything we do, and our ambition is clear: our data and analytics will enrich every customer experience, optimise every business decision, and empower every colleague. The Exec and Board have committed significant investment to establish and mature our data capabilities, underpinned by a transformative Data Strategy built around three core pillars:
Operating Model, Data & Analytics Platform, and Data Culture. We have five disciplines – Data Management, Engineering, Science, Analytics, and Visualisation – that collaborate with the rest of the business to drive incremental value through data, operational excellence, and business agility.

About the Product Management team

Product Management is at the core of our strategy, guiding innovation and excellence across our insurance offerings. Led by our Chief Product Officer, who oversees our Heads of Product (Home, Motor, Pet, and Shared Services), the team facilitates strategic prioritisation and translates executive decisions into actionable roadmaps and timely delivery. Our Product Management function combines deep business insights, user-centred design, and agile methods to create impactful, customer-focused solutions.

It’s a collaborative and dynamic environment, driving products that enhance customer experiences, improve operational efficiencies, and significantly contribute to our business success and growth.

As a Data Product Manager working with our pricing, underwriting and counter-fraud teams at Policy Expert, you will work in Group Data and collaborate with our Product Management teams to:

  • Define the vision and roadmap: Work closely with stakeholders to define the overall vision and roadmap for your squad's data products, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic purposes.
  • Prioritise initiatives: Balance short-term needs and long-term projects, prioritising initiatives based on business impact, feasibility, and resource availability.
  • Delivery: Oversee the lifecycle of data product development from ideation through deployment and maintenance, working with a technical lead and Delivery Manager to ensure initiatives are delivered and their impact communicated to the wider business.
  • Value tracking: Ensure that the value delivered by Data Products can be measured and reported to our Exec and Board.
  • Squad management: Act as the liaison between data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, and SMEs to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Requirement gathering: Work with business units to gather requirements and understand their pain points to translate them into data product features with measurable KPIs. Write clear and concise product specifications, including user stories and acceptance criteria, for the data team to follow.
  • Continuous improvement: Regularly review performance metrics and user feedback to continuously optimise and improve data products. Facilitate user testing sessions and collect user feedback to ensure data products meet user needs and business goals.
  • User training & documentation: Coordinate with relevant teams to provide training and support to end‑users, ensuring they can effectively use the data products. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all data products, including user guides, technical specifications, and best practices.
  • Data quality standards and compliance: Establish and maintain high standards for data quality, consistency, and reliability. Ensure that data products comply with relevant regulations and policies (like GDPR) and that data privacy and security standards are upheld.
