Job Description Offensive Security Specialist Salford Quays / Staines / Central London

Flexible / Hybrid working options. Permanent. Salary: £55,000 - £72,000 (Negotiable depending on experience & location). Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Offensive Security Specialist to join our growing Cyber team. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in safeguarding millions of customers by testing and strengthening our security controls against real‑world threats. Your expertise will help us stay ahead of adversaries and ensure our systems remain resilient.

How you’ll help us make health happen:
  • Review and analyse findings from multiple sources (Red Team reports, penetration tests, vulnerability scans) to assess their impact on Bupa’s security posture and prioritise remediation.
  • Identify potential attack paths and collaborate with technology owners and SMEs to disrupt them effectively.
  • Design and execute security assessments using Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) platforms, leveraging frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and the Unified Kill Chain.
  • Utilise threat intelligence to plan future assessments and align testing with emerging risks.
  • Influence remediation strategies and guide technical discussions to ensure solutions meet security requirements.
  • Mentor colleagues within the security testing team and share expertise across other technical towers.
  • Manage multiple small projects simultaneously, ensuring timely implementation and validation of security solutions.
  • Develop unbiased methods to verify the effectiveness of implemented controls.
  • Maintain and improve documentation, reporting, and dashboards using tools such as Kibana, Lucene, and Python.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including risk teams.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
  • Proven experience in Offensive Security, Red Teaming, Penetration Testing, or Security Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise technologies, network architectures, and security controls.
  • Familiarity with tools and concepts such as SIEM, WAF, IDS/IPS, DLP, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
