Front Office Business Analyst – Oil (Physical & Derivatives)
A global Energy Trading House is undergoing a front‑office technology and trading capability enhancement programme. We are looking to hire a Front Office Business Analyst with deep Oil trading domain experience (physical & derivatives) to support trading, risk, and commercial teams across the full trade lifecycle. This role is front‑office facing, focused on product onboarding, valuation, P&L, risk, and scheduling rather than hands‑on ETRM experience.
The analyst will act as the bridge between traders, risk, operations, and technology, ensuring new products and structures are correctly represented, valued and risk‑managed.
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the London office
Key Responsibilities- Partner with traders, risk and commercial teams to capture and define front‑office requirements
- Support onboarding of new Oil products (physical and derivatives) into the trading landscape
- Define and validate P&L calculations, valuation methodologies, Greeks and VaR
- Work with Risk teams on exposure, attribution and risk reporting
- Support physical Oil trading workflows including nominations, re‑nominations, scheduling, storage and pipeline movements
- Act as the functional authority on how Oil products should be represented within the ETRM
- Perform detailed system and data analysis to understand trade capture, pricing and valuation flows
- Create high‑quality documentation: user stories, functional specs, worked examples and test scenarios
- Facilitate workshops and act as a key interface between business and technology teams
- Operate effectively across Agile and Waterfall delivery environments
- 5+ years experience as a Business Analyst within Energy or Commodities Trading
- Deep understanding of the physical Oil trade lifecycle (logistics, storage, pipelines, scheduling)
- Front Office experience covering pricing, valuation, P&L, risk, VaR and Greeks
- Experience working with ETRM platforms in a functional BA capacity
- Symphony ETRM experience highly desirable (not hands‑on configuration)
- Strong stakeholder management skills with Front Office users
- Experience producing structured, high‑quality documentation
- Agile and Waterfall delivery experience
