Job Description

Are you passionate about cutting-edge AI and machine learning in digital services, and want to deliver positive real‑world value to the UK? We are looking for a Senior Security Consultant to join our team and help solve a variety of interesting problems in the national security space.

At BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, we work with a wide range of government customers, across defence, space, and government. In our national security AI team, we undertake a variety of projects covering exploratory research into AI methods and approaches, bespoke solutions to complex customer problems, and infrastructure projects working across large customer datasets.

We’re looking for a Security Consultant with deep knowledge of cyber security and practical expertise in AI/ML system security. You will help clients understand and mitigate AI‑driven threats, secure modern cloud environments, and design architectures that remain resilient as AI capabilities evolve. You’ll work across strategy, architecture, and hands‑on technical analysis to deliver secure solutions for high‑impact, complex client environments.

This is an exciting time to join our team to help pioneer both our customer’s and our own AI adoption journey. Not only will you be directly making a huge impact through the solutions you develop, you’ll be doing it for an organisation that makes a huge impact on the security of the UK.

Core duties
  • Conduct security assessments, threat modelling, and risk analysis across cloud, on‑premises, and hybrid environments.
  • Evaluate and secure AI/ML systems, including model governance, data pipelines, and model deployment patterns.
  • Advise clients on AI risk management, including prompt injection, model poisoning, data leakage, privacy risks, and adversarial attacks.
  • Design and recommend secure architectures for AI‑enabled applications, including LLM‑based systems, automation workflows, and decision‑support platforms.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and guidelines—particularly around AI governance and responsible AI use.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement secure configurations, guardrails, and controls.
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats, technologies, and best practices in cybersecurity and AI safety.
About you

You will have experience in many of the following:

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity consulting, architecture, or engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals: identity & access management, network security, encryption, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Hands‑on experience securing AI/ML systems, LLMs, or data science pipelines.
  • Knowledge of modern attack techniques including AI‑assisted attacks, adversarial ML, and supply‑chain risks.
  • Familiarity with cloud security frameworks (AWS, Azure, GCP) and industry standards (NIST, ISO 27001, OWASP, MITRE ATLAS).
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and client‑facing skills.

It would be great if you also had experience in some of these, but if not we’ll help you with them:

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, CEH, GIAC, or cloud security certifications.
  • Experience with AI model evaluation, fine‑tuning, RAG pipelines, and vector databases.
  • Understanding of AI ethics, governance, and regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001).
  • Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops , automation, IaC, and security control integrations.

Security Clearance is required for this vacancy. If you are not currently Security Cleared, you will need to be eligible for this and willing to go through the process.

How we will support you
  • Work‑life balance is important; you can work around core hours with flexible and part‑time working.
  • As many of our customers work predominantly in the office, we expect all of our staff to work at least 3 days per week in the office.
  • You’ll get 25 days holiday a year and the option to buy/sell and carry over from the year before.
  • Our flexible benefits package includes private medical and dental insurance, a…
