Role Purpose

The Technical, Integration & Data Architect provides a single technical authority for the evaluation of shortlisted SaaS ERP platforms, covering solution architecture, systems integration, security alignment, and data migration feasibility.

The role ensures that each candidate platform can integrate reliably with the existing enterprise landscape, comply with security and data-sovereignty requirements, and support safe, auditable migration of financial data from legacy systems. The architect converts high-level technical claims into evidence-based assessment, using targeted proofs and structured evaluation criteria.

Technical Architecture Assessment
  • Evaluate the core technical architecture of shortlisted ERP platforms, including:
  • Cloud-native design and SaaS operating model
  • Extensibility and configuration boundaries
  • Non-functional characteristics (scalability, resilience, availability)
  • Assess alignment with standard enterprise architecture principles and cloud security best practice
  • Identify architectural constraints, assumptions, and long-term risks
Integration Capability and Tooling
  • Assess the maturity and suitability of:
  • APIs (REST, event-driven, bulk interfaces)
  • ETL and data-integration tooling
  • Integration middleware or iPaaS options
  • Define and evaluate integration proofs of capability for the most critical interfaces, including:
  • Exchange of financial journals with upstream or downstream systems
  • Patterns for near-real-time vs batch integration
  • Review error handling, retries, reconciliation, monitoring, and operational supportability
Security, IAM, and Data Sovereignty
  • Assess alignment with security and compliance expectations, including:
  • Identity and access management integration (SSO, role-based access, least privilege)
  • Data encryption, key management, and platform security controls
  • Logging, monitoring, and auditability
  • Confirm compliance with data-residency and data-sovereignty requirements
  • Identify security or compliance risks and required mitigations
Data Migration and Legacy Transition
  • Assess feasibility of migrating financial data from legacy ERP or ledger systems, including:
  • Opening balances and historical transactions
  • Reference and master data
  • Review proposed data-migration approaches covering:
  • Data mapping and transformation
  • Validation and reconciliation controls
  • Cutover strategy and rollback options
  • Assess platform support for migration tooling, staging, and audit trails
Proofs of Capability and Evidence Review
  • Define clear objectives and success criteria for:
  • Integration proofs
  • Data proofs
  • Evaluate vendor submissions against agreed criteria, focusing on:
  • Technical realism and depth
  • Operational robustness
  • Evidence of prior use in comparable environments
  • Challenge assumptions, constraints, and unsupported assertions
Scoring, Risk Identification, and Governance
  • Score candidate solutions objectively against agreed technical and data criteria
  • Document assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, and technical risks
  • Provide clear input into the overall solution scoring and recommendation
  • Contribute to the System Selection Report with concise, defensible technical rationale
Key Deliverables
  • Technical architecture assessment inputs and scored evaluation matrices
  • Defined integration proof and data proof criteria
  • Written assessment of integration feasibility and risks
  • Data migration feasibility assessment and risk log
  • Contributions to the final System Selection Report
Required Skills and Experience Essential
  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect, Integration Architect, or Data Architect
  • Strong hands-on experience integrating SaaS ERP platforms with enterprise systems
  • Deep understanding of API-based and ETL-based integration patterns
  • Experience designing or assessing ERP data migration strategies
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security, IAM, and data-protection principles
  • Ability to evaluate solutions objectively and document evidence clearly
Desirable
  • Experience working with Tier-1 SaaS ERP platforms (e.g. Dynamics 365 Finance, SAP S/4

HANA Public Cloud, Oracle Fusion, Unit4 ERPx)
  • Experience in regulated or security-conscious environments
  • Experience supporting formal system-selection or procurement exercises
Key Competencies and Behaviours
  • Technically rigorous – probes beyond surface architecture diagrams
  • Evidence-led – prioritises demonstrable capability over vendor claims
  • Risk-aware – identifies integration and data risks early
  • Clear communicator – able to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Governance-conscious – understands auditability and decision traceability
Benefits
  • Work on cutting-edge technologies and impactful projects.
  • Opportunities for career growth and development.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
