Platform Engineer

Sightline Climate accelerates the deployment of climate tech solutions through industry leading data, analytics, and research. Sightline's subscription intelligence platform gives investors, corporates, and governments the insights they need to confidently build and finance the new climate economy. Sightline Climate also produces CTVC, the industry-leading newsletter read by 60,000 climate leaders.

We’re looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to help scale and evolve the infrastructure that powers Sightline’s climate intelligence platform. You’ll design and build the foundational systems that enable our developers to deliver fast, secure, and reliable software.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, build, and maintain the core AWS-based platform that supports our data and web products
• Manage our Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability and optimal performance
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub Actions for automated testing and deployment
• Create and maintain infrastructure as code to ensure consistent, repeatable environments
• Establish strong observability through metrics, logging, and alerting systems (Cloud Watch, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
• Manage networking, security, and data services within AWS (VPC, IAM, RDS)
• Partner with engineers to enhance developer experience—streamlining local environments, deployments, and workflows
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues in production environments

• 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Dev Ops, SRE, or similar roles
• Strong experience with AWS (ECS, Cloud Formation, Cloud Watch, RDS, VPC, IAM)
• Experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.)
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Cloud Formation, CDK, Terraform, etc.)
• Knowledge of security best practices for cloud infrastructure
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work in our London office 3 days per week

• Experience with database administration and optimization
• Familiarity with data pipelines
• Familiarity with Python and JavaScript applications
• Experience working in a fast-growing startup environment

• Systems design discussion with engineering team (~90 mins)
• Technical assessment focusing on AWS and Kubernetes scenarios (60 mins)
