IT Systems Administrator

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and detail‑minded IT Systems Administrator to join Hampton School's IT team. The role will be responsible for the Trust's IT systems on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that they are secure, reliable and that appropriate service levels are maintained.

Suitable candidates should have experience of supporting systems and services in a technical capacity, reporting to management and have worked for a minimum of five years within similar roles. The role would also be expected to assist in developing the technical road‑map so that it supports and aligns with The School's IT strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, VPN, and supporting large‑scale environments (approx. 2000 users). They will also be accountable for continuously reviewing the school's systems and recommending suitable development and/or project work to the IT Systems Manager and Director of IT.

They should have hands‑on experience with VMware, Windows Server, MacOS management using MDM, Forti Gate Firewalls, Aruba Switching and Wireless, and Veeam Backup.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and engage with stakeholders including vendors and management teams whilst working collaboratively with the IT Systems Manager and IT Service Leads.

The role requires the technical skills and expertise to deliver a range of development work in-house and be able to seek and manage support from subject specialists, as required. In addition, the role is responsible for daily checks, vulnerability reviews, and resolving system issues to maintain system integrity and availability.

The role will act as a third‑line escalation point, while also leading small‑scale system projects, improvements, and technical training for other members of the IT team.
