Base pay range

Location: London, UK (Hybrid – 1 day per week in office/on‑site)

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Package: £75,000 – £90,000 + 10% Bonus + 10% Shares + Benefits

Appvia is a specialist cloud and platform engineering consultancy and product house helping organisations build, secure, and scale in the cloud. We work with public and private sector customers to design modern cloud platforms, embed strong engineering practices, and enable teams to deliver software faster and more reliably.

Our focus is on platform engineering, Dev Ops, automation, and cloud‑native delivery, creating foundations that balance developer velocity with security, resilience, and governance.

As an AWS Senior Platform Engineer, you will be a key contributor to Appvia's platform engineering engagements, working hands‑on to design, build, and operate secure, scalable AWS platforms.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working closely with development teams, and contributing to the continuous improvement of cloud platforms and delivery pipelines. You'll operate within multi‑disciplinary teams, supporting both application and platform workloads while helping customers adopt modern Dev Ops and platform engineering practices.

You'll be expected to take ownership of technical delivery within your area, contribute to solution design, and support less experienced engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

You are a strong AWS engineer with a background in cloud‑native infrastructure and Dev Ops, comfortable working in client‑facing environments and contributing directly to delivery.

You will bring:

• Hands‑on experience building and operating AWS platforms
• A solid understanding of modern CI/CD and automation practices
• Confidence collaborating with engineers, architects, and delivery leads
• A pragmatic approach to improving reliability, security, and developer experience

• Design, build, and operate AWS‑based platform components aligned to best practices.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, supporting faster and safer delivery.
• Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS.
• Work closely with application teams to enable cloud‑native patterns and platform adoption.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to improve operational visibility.
• Create reusable templates, modules, and deployment patterns.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of platform reliability, scalability, and security.
• Support onboarding of new workloads and teams onto shared cloud platforms.
• Share knowledge through code reviews, documentation, and mentoring.

• Infrastructure as Code:
  Terraform experience essential;
  Cloud Formation/CDK beneficial.
• Containers:
  Experience with Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS.
• CI/CD & Dev Ops:
  Solid understanding of Git‑based workflows, pipelines, and automation.
• Networking:
  Experience working with AWS networking constructs (VPCs, load balancing, connectivity).

• Experience delivering cloud migration, optimisation, or platform initiatives.
• Comfortable working in consulting or customer‑facing roles.
• Able to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams.
• A mindset of continuous learning and improvement.

Certification in relevant cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) at an associate level is highly desirable, e.g.

• AWS Certified:
  Solutions Architect Associate
• AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (highly desirable)

Certification in Kubernetes and Terraform administration is desirable:

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• Terraform Associate
