Our client is embarking on a major on-premises to AWS migration and requires an experienced AWS Fin Ops Consultant to establish the financial operations framework that will guide and control this transformation.

This role will be responsible for building the Fin Ops capability from the ground up - defining processes, implementing tooling, and embedding best practices to ensure cloud adoption is cost-effective, transparent, and aligned to business objectives.

• Design and implement a Fin Ops operating model for AWS, including governance, reporting, and cultural adoption.
• Define and enforce cost allocation, tagging, and chargeback/showback frameworks across multi-account AWS environments.
• Collaborate with Cloud Architecture, Finance, and Procurement teams to integrate AWS cost management into existing business processes.
• Establish guardrails, budgets, and alerts to prevent cost overruns and ensure accountability.
• Select, configure, or advise on Fin Ops tooling (e.g., Cloud Health, Apptio Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, native AWS Budgets).
• Develop dashboards and KPI reporting to drive cost visibility and optimisation.
• Lead the education and enablement of engineering and finance stakeholders on Fin Ops principles.
• Support business case development, TCO modelling, and forecasting for the migration programme.

• Demonstrable experience in building or maturing Fin Ops practices within AWS environments.
• Deep understanding of AWS cost management, billing structures, and tagging strategies

• Experience defining and delivering cost optimisation and governance frameworks

• Familiarity with Fin Ops tooling such as Cloud Health, Apptio Cloudability, Cloud Zero, nOps, or similar.
• Ability to work across technical and commercial teams
  , translating cost data into actionable insights.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at both technical and executive levels.
• Experience in cloud migration or transformation programmes

• Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cost management
  .
• Knowledge of governance, compliance, and automation in cloud cost management.
