Role OverviewAs a Research Scientist focused on Large Language Models (LLMs), you will partner with research scientists and engineers to design, develop and deploy state‑of‑the‑art LLM applications that transform drug discovery. You will lead machine‑learning based research projects, mentor peers, and drive the adoption of LLMs across our platform.
Responsibilities- Contribute to core research in machine learning by pushing the boundaries of LLMs for drug discovery.
- Develop and refine LLM‑driven approaches for multiple use‑cases, modifying and applying models to complex biological and medical challenges.
- Identify and create novel ML techniques and data pipelines required to train and apply LLMs.
- Analyze and tune experimental results to inform future directions.
- Implement and scale training and inference engineering frameworks.
- Report and present research findings clearly to interdisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with scientists and domain experts, sharing domain experience.
- Engage in team collaborations to meet ambitious research goals.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to the ML research community.
- Support development of other ML research scientists.
- Lead and run ML research projects, fostering inclusive and diverse teams.
Skills and Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
- Specialized experience building LLMs, with deep knowledge of model architectures, training methods and deployment.
- Strong understanding of linear algebra, calculus and statistics.
- Experience with ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch, or Tensor Flow, and scientific software like Num Py, Sci Py or Pandas.
- Project supervision, leadership or management experience as appropriate.
- Knowledge of the current LLM landscape and near‑future developments.
- Experience working with real‑world datasets.
- PhD in machine learning or computer science.
- A proven track record of publications or contributions to ML codebases.
- Background in biology or medicine to bridge AI and scientific problems.
- Experience in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, or related fields.
- Experience with multi‑parameter optimization.
- Experience in large‑scale deep learning, generative models, graph neural networks, or related areas.

Benefits & Working ArrangementHybrid work model: you are required to work from the London office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and another day). Additional needs can be discussed if you are selected for an initial screening call.
