DescriptionV.Ships Leisure is looking for Linen keeper/ Tailor on behalf of Silversea Cruises.
Responsible to deliver a high quality, efficient and excellent linen operation in accordance with Company Policies and strictly upholding any Public Health standards and towards a goal of achieving total guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for the daily handling of all linen in circulation.
- Ensures that inventories are updated and accurate at all times.
- Keeps linen store clean and in order at all times.
- Prepares and issues linen and towels to suite attendants and housekeeping utilities on daily basis.
- Arranges broken/soiled linen – repairs when necessary and if possible.
- Removes damaged uniforms and linen from circulation and completes the damaged uniform/linen report on a weekly basis. All damaged uniforms to be kept separate for review and approval of the Rooms Division Manager and Hotel Stores Manager. Once approval has been given the linen keeper may discard the damaged items.
- Responsible to tailor and repair uniforms as required.
- Ensures that all guest tailoring requests, enquiries and complaints are responded to immediately and are followed up on efficiently and to the guests satisfaction. Proactively demonstrating sincerity and hospitality in all guest interactions.
- Maintains a record of all tailoring work carried out on a cruise by cruise basis.
- Issues linens to crew.
- Issues uniforms to new crew members and ensures that the uniform issue sheets are completed correctly as per Company procedures.
- Collects uniforms from all disembarking crew members according to Company procedures and cross checking against the original uniform issue sheets. Reporting to the Hotel Stores Manager if any discrepancies are found.
- Responsible for the daily handling of all uniforms in circulation.
- Keeps an accurate and up to date inventory of all items in the linen store.
- Receives the deliveries of new linen, towels and uniforms and ensures that a proper count is taken of these within 3 days of delivery.
- Keeps the Hotel Stores Manager updated with regards to par levels of uniform and linen, requesting requisitions of items where necessary and in a timely manner.
- Proactively prepares for seasonal changes with regards to crew uniforms.
- Regular inventory control as per instructions from the Hotel Stores Manager.
- Responsible for repairs on soft furnishings in public areas to extend the life of such items where possible and minor repairs of curtains and drapes.
- Responsible to maintain the chemical locker (Silver Spirit and Silver Muse only), to include accurate inventories of stock, safe storage and issuance.
- Maintains a high level of communication and feedback within the Hotel Stores Manager as well as other departments around the ship.
- Adheres to departmental standards, specifications and work routines.
- Follows up on special departmental daily side duty assignments.
- Maintains workshop cleanliness and organization, complying with Public Health standards.
- Executes strict Public Health practices in all aspects of the position.
- Ensures the readiness for any announced or unannounced Public Health inspection, whether it’s completed internally or by external authorities.
- Properly and carefully uses ship equipment and truthfully reports faulty or broken equipment. Monitors repair progress with supervisor until repaired.
- Strives to minimize breakage and wastage and follows proper procedures when disposing of garbage.
- Displays cost and quality awareness.
- Assists managers and supervisors with the training and induction of new personnel.
- Proactively responds to issues or potential problems quickly and efficiently involving relevant people as required. Communicates any challenges, complaints or service difficulties to immediate supervisor.
- Attends all training sessions with the aim to further improve his/her level of performance.
- Adherence to the Company’s code of conduct at all times.
- Practices preventative maintenance.
- Keeps the Hotel Stores Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems and matters of significance.
- Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures set forth by the Company, and is accountable for such practices.
- Practices good people management, maintaining proper conduct with all departments around the ship.
- Observes and enforces uniform and grooming standards according to Company policies.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid STCW
95 certification. - Previous linenkeeper/tailoring experience in a hotel or cruise ship preferred.
- Physically and medically fit.
- Moral integrity is required.
- Excellent fluent English (verbal and written). English is the working and safety language on board Silversea vessels. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members.
