CQC Assessment Specialist

Location:

Flexible (travel across regions required in the South of England)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CQC Assessment Specialist to conduct independent, CQC-style assessments across our homes. This role provides an additional layer of quality assurance beyond internal audits and plays a key part in strengthening CQC readiness, identifying learning opportunities, and driving continuous improvement in care standards.
This is an ideal opportunity for a former CQC inspector or senior quality professional looking for flexible, meaningful consultancy work within social care. We are happy to consider candidates who run their own quality consultancy company.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct six CQC-style inspections per year across our homes.
Each inspection will include:
Review of compliance against CQC key lines of enquiry (KLOEs).
Interviews with colleagues and people we support (where appropriate).
Review of key documentation and support plans.
Produce clear, detailed inspection reports highlighting:
Strengths and good practice.
Areas for improvement.
Recommendations and indicative ratings aligned to CQC standards.
Share findings with Operations and Quality teams to inform action planning.
Deliver feedback sessions following each inspection.
Remain up to date with CQC regulations, guidance, and best practice.

Requirements

Recent experience as a CQC Inspector (within the last 2 years preferred).
Strong working knowledge of CQC frameworks and inspection methodology.
Excellent analytical, report-writing, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to communicate findings clearly, constructively, and professionally.
Willingness to travel across multiple regions.

Time Commitment

Approx. 4 days per inspection (preparation, on-site visit, reporting).
Additional 4 days per year for meetings.
Total commitment: approximately 28 days per year.
