Patient & Public Involvement & Engagement Manager (PPIE)

The closing date is 10 February 2026

UCLH, together with leading university UCL, is a centre for world-class clinical research and has one of the largest portfolios of studies. UCLH is home to one of the country's most innovative biomedical research centres (BRCs). At our BRC we have built up a good reputation delivering world-class training in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and in engaging communities who have typically been under-represented in research.

PPIE is essential to the work we do at UCLH and the BRC and is considered crucial to making our research more impactful and inclusive.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.5

FTE) Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Manager to join the team and take a lead in developing and delivering our PPIE strategy, with a specific focus on providing support, advice and training on PPIE for researchers and clinicians at UCLH and UCL.

This opportunity is for someone who has a passion for ensuring the meaningful and effective engagement, involvement and participation (PPIE) of patients and the public in research. You will work closely with academics, clinicians, patients and the public to facilitate PPIE activities, as well as advise senior staff and researchers.

You will work alongside a second part-time PPIE manager to support proactive outreach work with local communities to diversify the groups of people involved in biomedical research at UCLH and UCL.

Main duties
  • Work alongside a second part-time PPIE Manager to develop and implement a strategy for PPIE in line with the Biomedical Research Centre aims.
  • Devise, manage and deliver an expert PPIE support service for researchers within a defined budget.
  • Support activity to engage and involve patients and the public from harder to reach groups in our work.
  • Monitor and evaluate PPIE activities across biomedical research and UCL and UCLH.
