Your Purpose
We’re looking for an experienced maritime medical professional to join us as a Fleet Medical Training Specialist, delivering high‑impact, hands‑on training to shipboard medical teams across MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys. In this travelling role, you’ll empower medical staff to excel in all aspects of onboard medical operations, including clinical workflow optimisation, medical centre leadership, customer service excellence, inventory control, fiscal accountability, and clinical readiness.

You’ll assess onboard practices, mentor teams, support new staff onboarding, drive continuous improvement, and serve as a vital link between shipboard medical centres and shoreside Medical Operations. If you thrive in diverse environments, are committed to advancing maritime healthcare, and are ready to travel extensively while helping our medical teams grow and excel, this is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact across our fleet.

Your Impact

  • Assist the medical operations team in planning, evaluation, and implementation of training programs for onboard medical teams.
  • Assess the quality of practice learning environments, determine interventions to enhance and sustain practice education, and ensure an up-to-date action plan is in place.
  • Support and facilitate the educational development of medical staff in maritime clinical practice, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Work within the planned budget for the medical education, promote the effective and efficient use of resources and be aware of specific budgetary constraints.
  • Provide medical training on board ensuring that MSC policies, SOPs and standards for clinical practice are fully implemented and adhered to.
  • Participate in induction programs and promote other applicable courses during training sessions.
  • Intervene immediately if unsafe practice is identified and report to the shoreside medical team for further consideration as necessary.
  • Maintain an up-to-date training data base ensuring that any deficiencies identified have been addressed.
  • Produce audit reports highlighting areas of concern and develop strategies to address these issues in collaboration with the Lead Physician and shoreside Medical Operations team.
  • Work closely with Clinical Governance and other relevant stakeholders to analyse and report on patient safety issues, patient satisfaction, and quality of care measures.
  • Address any equipment issues and escalate to the shoreside medical facilities team as appropriate.
  • Represent MSC group corporate medical services in a professional and responsible manner.
  • Be fully conversant with all professional codes of conduct and abide by their guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for own professional development, ensuring awareness of latest resuscitation guidelines, medical equipment, and MSC group protocols.
  • Maintain certification as an Advanced Life Support Instructor / Provider, and any other training deemed appropriate to effectively deliver relevant training on board.
  • Ensure that GDPR / HIPPA regulations are always maintained.
  • Travel to any vessel as a member of the Emergency Response team to assist with medical situations as deemed necessary by the Director of Medical Operations.
  • Required to travel extensively to fulfil fleet training requirements.

Your Journey so far

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (oral and written).
  • At least 5 years of Clinical Practice and 2 years shipboard clinical leadership experience preferred.
  • Current accredited ALS Instructor or ALS provider
  • Proficient in basic and advanced paediatric resuscitation skills.
  • Relevant experience of delivering medical training.
  • Experience of clinical audit and performing risk assessments.

Your Essentials

  • Valid EU passport
