This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding, enthusiastic team. The holder of the post will gain a wide range of educational experiences—postgraduate, undergraduate and multi-professional. The candidate will work with the Education & Workforce, Undergraduate leads and departmental leads for training and education to develop and run innovative medical education initiatives to support junior doctors, medical students and allied health professionals across the trust.
There is also an opportunity to complete a fully funded King’s College London PG Cert in Medical Education alongside the fellowship for posts starting in September. The posts are offered as Fellowships in Medical Education for a period of six months to one year.
The post is divided into two parts: 50% of the time the post holder will focus on educational work (liaising with teams, developing programmes and delivering teaching) and 50% on-call clinical duties delivering clinical services.
Main duties of the jobThere are potentially two posts available.
Post one: available from March 2026 for up to one year; shorter terms will be considered. This post can be done as a standalone Education post at 0.5 WTE or with additional clinical duties (speciality to be confirmed depending on departmental capacity). Previous departments hosting the education fellow have included Neonatology, Paediatric Emergency Dept, Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Neuro-disability.
Post two: from Sep 2026 for one year, clinically based in Complex General Paediatrics, at registrar level.
If you are currently on a training program, an application for an OOPE will need to be made.
Registrar level ST3+ — 2 posts:
This is an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and thinking about education within a hospital setting. While prior teaching experience is not required, a keen interest and enthusiasm for medical education is expected. You would have opportunities to gain leadership and management skills alongside expanding your knowledge of medical education and developing teaching skills.
