Snap Care is working with Harry, 38 years old. He lives at home with his family and is supported by a small team of Support Workers. Harry has cerebral palsy, learning disabilities and experiences high levels of anxiety. He enjoys dance, music, Boccia, swimming, gym, church, and gardening at his allotment. He often uses a 3-wheeler trike for transport and requires a driver for trips further afield.
His support needs include activities of daily living, personal care, meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, and community access. The role requires a physically fit worker to keep up with him.
On arrival, there will be a short handover before following Harry’s daily schedule. You will support Harry to participate in his chosen activities and help him express his wishes. Harry walks unaided but can lose balance, so the worker must be vigilant and physically able. New team members are introduced gradually. Start times may vary (around 09:00–10:00 as needed). Additional information will be provided to shortlisted candidates about introductions and anxiety-related daily life.
A love of gardening or curiosity about it would be beneficial.
This role is suitable for a highly motivated, energetic and patient male Support Worker. You will work closely with Harry’s family to build a supportive and therapeutic relationship. You should be a team player who can plan, organise, contribute ideas, follow instructions and care plans, and communicate effectively. When asked what his ideal support worker is, Harry says: “I want someone to be kind to me and someone who is patient with me.”
WhyYou’ll Love This Role
Full induction and training provided; this role may suit someone pursuing a career in social care. There will be a 16-week induction. This is a caring family with Harry at the heart of it and his community.
