Job Summary
The organisation is seeking a nurse in the safeguarding adult speciality to oversee referrals regarding domestic abuse and provide training, safeguarding supervision and advice across the Trust. The successful candidate will develop clinical safeguarding expertise for all ages with direct or non-direct types of abuse and will cover our 5 sites, including trauma services, an eye hospital, 2 accident and emergency departments, 3 urgent care centres, sexual health services and more.
The role includes managing the domestic abuse email inbox, coordinating MARAC research, maintaining spreadsheets, and collaborating with the wider safeguarding team including Learning Disability and Autism.
You will deliver safeguarding training to staff, provide safeguarding supervision, advocate for service users in safeguarding meetings, and work with the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties- To provide support for the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults (NNSA) in managing safeguarding for adults who need protecting and to support people experiencing domestic abuse.
- To support operational delivery of the service, working with the Named Nurse for Adult Safeguarding/wider safeguarding team. To attend MARAC, discharge planning meetings, adult health professionals meetings, etc., in close liaison with the NNSA.
- To work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and partner agencies to safeguard adults and those experiencing domestic abuse who come into contact with services at ICHT, providing training to promote welfare.
- To report to the NNSA any issues or obstacles in daily workload and contribute to data collection and audit related to safeguarding adults and domestic abuse.
- To facilitate group safeguarding supervision in clinical settings for health professionals once trained, and to challenge practice constructively within the multi-agency arena and ICHT, ensuring escalation processes are used appropriately. Meet with service users when applicable.
