The RoleTo assist the trained nurse in the delivery of a range of patient care procedures and to provide basic nursing care to the patient.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern- Based in Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Full time and part time positions
- Shift pattern to be Monday to Sunday
Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part time hours.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the nursing care of the patient under the supervision of a trained nurse. This will include all basic care including the reception, admission, transfer and discharge of the patient according to procedure.
- Ensure patients receive the care and assistance required/prescribed with fluid and nutritional intake.
- Observe and report any change in the condition of the patient and communicate this verbally to the nurse in charge.
- Assist the patient unable to self‑care with personal hygiene and dressing, adhering to all manual handling procedures and policies.
- Carry out and assist with minor investigatory procedures eg:
Urinalysis, faecal occult blood testing and urine collections as required. Report all findings to the trained nurse. - Participate and assist in the updating and completion of accurate patient documentation as necessary eg: fluid charts, water‑flow charts and also files documents appropriately when required.
- Be responsible for the cleaning and tidying of clinical areas, equipment and storage cupboards, excluding cupboards for the storage of controlled drugs and medicines and report any defects and areas of concern to the nurse in charge.
- Maintain stock of adequate supplies of central and clinical stores excluding medicines.
- Assist with the safe custody of patient’s personal belongings in accordance with organisational policy.
- Comply with all Health and Safety legislation and policies with particular regard to COSHH, fire, infection control and manual handling.
