A 12-month fixed-term position providing maternity cover within the Lambeth CAMHS crisis Team.
To take day to day operational management responsibility in the planning, directing and management of the Rapids Team (Crisis).
The post holder will ensure that service access and delivery is efficient, effective, evidence based, needs led, as well as service user and carer focused.
The post holder will provide clear leadership, in partnership with the Service Manager to ensure access to timely treatment and intervention by well led and motivated staff that contributes to promoting safety and achievement for all children and young people.
Main duties of the job- Operational: covers the management of the team, including clear lines of reporting and how they function in line with mental health governance, the process for escalating any problems or issues
- Quality assurance
- Strategic: monitoring key outcomes and implementing regular evaluations to allow for continued learning, innovation and improvement.
- Responsible for submitting relevant data requirements as requested for local performance and management meetings and other as agreed.
- Undertake and support service evaluation, audit, research and policy development.
- Work with stakeholders: local commissioners (CCG), GP practices, community settings, CAMHS, local mental health & well-being services.
- Work in collaboration with stakeholders, partners and communities towards systemic change that supports advancing mental health equality and narrowing health inequalities and disadvantage.
- Attend regular regional and national meetings as required.
Lambeth Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides multidisciplinary assessment, diagnostic, treatment, advisory and consultative service for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural disorders, in particular those at high risk or those with more severe and persistent problems associated with psychiatric disorder.
The Lambeth Rapids Team is part of Lambeth Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We provide support for children and young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis, or those with severe and complex mental health needs who may require more intensive support.
Our aim is to try to keep young people out of hospital and ensure that their care and treatment is delivered within the community.

- Leadership
- To support the development of a culture that promotes leadership through coaching in accordance with Trust standards and protocols.
- To line manage and performance manage team leaders/managers in accordance with Trust standards and protocols.
- To line manage and performance manage team to assist in recruiting, motivating, training, developing and retaining appropriate staff enabling them to have the skills, expertise and discretion to function effectively in their roles.
- Provide demonstrable assurance that staff have the appropriate skills and competence to deliver high quality care.
- To ensure the effective operational management of the CAMHS service in providing services which are in accordance with the objectives of the CAMHS / and achievement of key performance targets.
- To recruit/develop team leaders/managers who meet the organisational standards and measure performance against leadership and management competencies adopted by the Trust.
- To be a visible leader and be accessible to clinical staff, services users and carers.
- Team Management
- To ensure that services are developed and provided that are of the highest standard in terms of accessibility, consistent with SLAMs values.
- To ensure (in conjunction with the Service Manager, Heads of Professions and Lead Clinicians) that practice within the team meets relevant standards, is appropriate, timely, safe and follows agreed professional practice.
