Band 4 Clinical Pathway Navigator - Neurology

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neurology department at Royal Free London. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team of Patient Navigators or Clinical Pathway Administrators and be responsible for the smooth running of the patient journey from referral to discharge. This will be achieved by ensuring that coordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.

This post will be a 12-month fixed term contract. It will also be offered as a secondment opportunity where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

The Neurology service is looking for a dynamic and resilient clinical pathway navigator to join our team. This is a pivotal role within the team and will be supported by the Clinical Pathway Manager. You would be responsible for maintaining service delivery and improvement within the department.

Person Specification Education and professional qualifications
  • English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
  • Degree or diploma level qualification or professional equivalent
Experience
  • Experience of managing and prioritising workloads and working to deadlines
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, pressured environment
  • Previous experience of working with patients in a healthcare environment
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Previous experience of working with the public
  • Experience of using Cerner
Skills and aptitudes
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent customer care practice, being polite, sympathetic, patient and diplomatic
  • IT literate
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Outlook
  • Highly proficient in the use of Excel
  • Understanding what is meant by patient confidentiality
  • A confident communicator (excellent written aptitudes and verbal skills)
  • Ability to learn and assimilate information quickly and easily
  • Awareness of National and Trust pathway targets (such as 18 week RTT target)
