About the Borough

Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London’s largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.

With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world-renowned institutions such as St Thomas's Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.

About the Role and the Team

Lambeth is a vibrant and diverse borough. The council is committed to work in partnership with its local residents and partner organisations to achieve Equity and Justice. Mental health services in Lambeth continue to transform. Lambeth is one of the first areas in the country to have developed and implemented alliance working and the work continues with the development of the Living Well Network Alliance.

The Alliance is a partnership between Certitude, Thames Reach, Lambeth Council, The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and The Lambeth NHS Clinical Commissioning Group. The Living Well Network Alliance is responsible for transforming the way that working age adult mental health services are delivered in Lambeth to realise the vision that “Every citizen, whatever their abilities or disabilities, can flourish, contribute to society and lead the life they want to lead”.

Lambeth Centralised AMHP Service is looking for a highly skilled and experienced full time Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP). Candidates must be fully qualified as an AMHP with relevant regulatory body registration and preferably with current experience of working as an AMHP. Successful candidates will be expected to confidently undertake all statutory responsibilities as an AMHP as laid down under the MHA.

Successful candidate will be eligible for AMHP Retention Allowance of £3000 pa, Welcome Payment of £1000 and Market Supplement of £1000 pa after being in service for 6 months.

We especially encourage applications from people from the Black, Asian and Multiethnic communities and while the role is open to all applicants, Lambeth will utilise the positive action provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to appoint a candidate from underrepresented groups where there is a choice between two candidates of equal merit.
