Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), short walk from Ladbroke Grove (Circle and Hammersmith) station. Service does not have step free access.
Salary: £27,000
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday on a rota ranging between 09:00 - 17:00 or 13:00 - 21:00. May be required to work outside these hours dependent on service and resident requirements including weekends and bank holidays.
About the RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Mentor to support our residents who have multiple and complex needs including mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will provide a person-centred approach and create a safe and comfortable space for residents.
Key Responsibilities- Support residents with daily tasks and challenges associated with complex needs such as mental health, substance use, and offending backgrounds.
- Create tailored support plans through one-to-one sessions, group sessions, and multi-agency meetings.
- Hold a caseload and conduct key work sessions that meet residents’ needs.
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing, carry out regular welfare checks, and respond to incidents or emergencies.
- Encourage residents to participate in activities and events such as movie nights, cooking evenings, and games nights.
- Keep support plans up to date on a regular basis.
- Work closely with the rest of the team to provide overall excellent service delivery, supporting their caseloads and other tasks as necessary.
- Carry out general housing management support.
We seek an individual with a true passion to support people with multiple and complex needs, particularly homelessness, mental health, and substance use. You will build rapport and trusting relationships, adopt a flexible approach, and understand the unique support requirements of each individual.
Experience & Skills- Experience working with people of complex backgrounds and a good understanding of the sector, particularly around multiple and complex needs.
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards residents and their challenges.
- Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft and other software programs.
- Willingness and flexibility to adapt working patterns to meet service and resident needs.
- Promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, liaising effectively with stakeholders.
- Understanding of social marginalisation attached to people facing personal challenges.
