Clinical or Forensic Psychologist – FTC

We need a qualified psychologist who’s passionate about helping people with a range of complex mental health needs. The role is part‑time, 16 hrs per week over two days (ideally Monday and Tuesday) and will be a 6‑month fixed‑term contract starting in March 2026.

Cygnet Bostall House provides assessment and treatment for men living with a learning disability and associated complex needs. The team also supports those with mental health needs and challenging behaviours.

The applicant will be an HCPC registered Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist with a keen interest in working with people with complex mental health needs and the ability to engage them positively. The post is suitable for a candidate who appreciates variety and a degree of autonomy.

Reporting directly to the Consultant Psychologist, you will work within a multi‑disciplinary team, manage a small caseload at Bostall House and play a role in training, supervision and service development. You will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans, facilitate group and individual psychological assessments.

• Work as a team psychologist within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
• Carry out psychological assessments and provide therapy to individuals and groups
• Collaboratively develop care plans with the MDT
• Provide training and supervision to colleagues and consultation to teams
• Evaluate the service, contribute to its development and carry out clinical research
• Disseminate outcomes via conference presentations and publications

• HCPC registered Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist with experience in a clinical forensic or mental health setting
• Experience of working within a Learning Disabilities environment preferred but not essential
• Preferably trained in complex therapies such as Schema Focused, Cognitive Analytical and DBT
• Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs
• Capable of treating difficulties such as self‑harm, physical & verbal aggression, history of sexual offending and drug & alcohol problems
