Staff Nurse - Friends Stroke Unit

King's College Hospital has one of London's largest Hyper Acute Stroke Units (HASUs), operating two HASUs and two Acute Stroke Units across our Denmark Hill and PRUH sites.

On the Friends Stroke Unit, you will become part of a team that thrives on stroke research and innovation in stroke care.

As a specialist stroke nurse, you will play a central role in the care provided to our patients, while further developing your skills and working collaboratively with our excellent team, in line with the evolving needs of the service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about stroke care and ready to take on a new challenge. The role is rewarding and supports nurses in reaching their full potential.

On the Stroke Unit, we work in a friendly and supportive environment, caring for patient's post-thrombolysis and post-thrombectomy. This includes managing acutely unwell patients and coordinating goal-focused stroke rehabilitation to optimise patient outcomes.

As a registered nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based stroke care. As a centre of excellence for stroke care, we offer a person-centred approach that supports independence and overall well-being.

Main duties of the job
  • Successful Applicants are expected to provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.
  • Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.
  • Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
  • Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate professional behaviour at all times.
  • Ensure and maintain updated trainings both statutory and mandatory trainings that are essential to the line of work.
  • Practice integrity and beneficence in work.
