Help shape mental health support in Lancashire.

Lancashire Mind is an award-winning local mental health charity, driven by the belief that everyone in Lancashire should have the opportunity to achieve their best possible mental health and wellbeing. Each year we reach over 10,000 people and work closely with partners, communities, and people with lived experience to challenge stigma, influence services, and support people to thrive.

About the Role

The Lived Experience Coordinator role is at the heart of making sure people with real, lived experience of poor mental health influence how services are designed, delivered and improved.

Why join us?

Working at Lancashire Mind means being part of a welcoming, values-led charity that is real, bold, caring and open. You’ll join a supportive, friendly team committed to improving mental health across our diverse county.

We Offer

  • Hybrid working (office, home and community-based).
  • Flexible hours, including options such as compressed hours.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Christmas closure and long-service leave (pro rata for part-time staff).
  • Wellbeing benefits including a wellbeing half-day and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Pension with matched contributions up to 6%.
  • Sick pay scheme from day one, increasing with service.
  • Learning and development opportunities.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the development of Lancashire Mind’s approach to involving people with lived experience in all key organisational decisions.
  • Facilitate Youth Advisory Groups and Adult Lived Experience Panel, recruiting members and coordinating meetings and activities.
  • Work alongside staff across the charity to embed lived experience in service planning, design and evaluation.
  • Attend community events, promote participation opportunities, and connect with partner organisations.
  • Help deliver internal training on participation, coproduction and community-led approaches.

The role involves travel within Lancashire and some occasional evening/weekend work.

Who We’re Looking For

We want someone who is:

  • Passionate about lived experience involvement and mental health equality.
  • Confident working with a wide range of people including young people and communities facing inequalities.
  • Knowledgeable about Lancashire’s communities and the barriers people face.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and challenging discrimination.
  • Comfortable facilitating group sessions and creating spaces where everyone feels able to contribute.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and especially encourage people from communities underrepresented in mental health services or those with lived experience of poor mental health.
