The post-holder will contribute to the provision of psychology as a member of the Acute Care Service, in Enfield, part of Care Group 4 (Same Day Emergency Care & Inpatients) in North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT). The Acute Care includes 4 acute inpatient wards, a PICU ward, and the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). This post carries the specific remit of delivering psychologically-informed groups and brief individual interventions to inpatients on the ward.
The post holder will support senior colleagues in working with the ward teams to develop a systematic, consistent and effective response to the common issues that arise within acute care settings that can have a powerful impact on the overall effectiveness and quality of experience for people using the service and the staff working in it.
Responsibilities
To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s difficulties, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologistTo assist in the coordination and running of psychologically informed low-intensity therapeutic groups for inpatients within Psychology and in collaboration with the Inpatients Therapies Team.To deliver psychosocial interventions (i.e. CBT-informed, DBT-informed, psychoeducation and supporting family work) as per service user care plan under the supervision of a qualified psychologistTo assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users on the inpatient wardsTo liaise with and offer support to families and carers of people who are currently on the wardTo be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team attending and contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings.To be responsible for recording, monitoring and reporting on clinical work in line with NLFT and professional guidelinesTo work in clinical situations which require intense concentration and which involve highly distressing or emotional circumstances or where there is a risk of verbal or physical aggression.To work with your supervisor to plan and monitor your own clinical work load and other activities.To carry out assessments, including risk assessments, developing formulations and implementing psychologically informed interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.To assist in the coordination and running of psychologically informed low-intensity therapeutic groups for inpatientsTo deliver psychosocial interventions (i.e. CBT-informed, DBT-informed, psychoeducation and supporting family work) as per service user care plan under the supervision of a qualified psychologistTo assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users on the inpatient wardsTo liaise with and offer support to families and carers of people who are currently on the ward.To be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team attending and contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings.To develop and facilitate individual and group-based treatment interventions in collaboration with the Therapies teamTo work in clinical situations which require intense concentration and which involve highly distressing or emotional circumstances or where there is a risk of verbal or physical aggression.To work with your supervisor to plan and monitor your own clinical work load and other activitiesTo assess and feedback risk issues to the relevant professionals both within the team and outside of the MDTNotes
