Physiotherapist Band 5 | East NHS Foundation Trust

Community Health Newham (part of East London NHS Foundation Trust) is recruiting for a Static MSK Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our enthusiastic, friendly, and supportive team in Newham, East London. This position will be based with the musculoskeletal physiotherapy service; however the successful post holder may be required on other sites within the Trust, as required. The specialist team provides assessment and treatment for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal presentations and conditions.

We are seeking an individual who is an excellent team worker, self‑motivated and able to keep an up‑to‑date knowledge base in a supportive environment. An ability to work under pressure and to respond and adapt to changes is a must in the current NHS environment. This post may involve working in lone clinics, as well as evenings and Saturday clinics as required.

• Degree or equivalent graduate diploma in physiotherapy
• Current Health Care Professions Council Registration
• Relevant IT skills

• To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work ensuring a high standard of clinical care for patients under your management.
• To accept clinical responsibility as an autonomous practitioner for a designated caseload of patients, and organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
• To undertake the assessment and clinical diagnosis of patients using investigative and analytical skills; formulating an individual management and/or treatment programme using clinical reasoning and a range of treatment skills.
• To assess patients’ understanding of treatment proposals and their capacity to give informed consent, and work within the legal framework when patients lack capacity to give consent to treatment.
• To undertake the continuous assessment and evaluation of the treatment programmes and modify them according to the patients’ needs.
• To be actively involved in patient discharge planning, involving the MDT where necessary, to ensure effective care and safe discharge. Independently make the decision to discharge patients from physiotherapy treatment.
• To maintain comprehensive and accurate written records in line with Trust and professional standards.
• To assess and manage clinical risk within own patient caseload to ensure your own and patients’ safety.
• To participate in out of hours and satellite clinic duties within the Trust having been assessed as competent.
