This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to join our dynamic, innovative and friendly team pharmacy purchasing team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and efficient pharmacy technician with experience and a passion in this area of work within hospital pharmacy.

Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of working as part of a large multi‑disciplinary team are essential. You will also need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.

All applicants must be registered pharmacy technicians with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

This is a full‑time fixed‑term post, and the post holder will be required to participate in the weekend and late‑night rota.

Main responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Principal Pharmacy Procurement Technician to cover in their absence.
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective management of the purchasing department at Northwick Park Hospital.
  • Sources and orders medicines in line with national contracts and frameworks.
  • Responsible for managing the purchasing aspects of medicine shortages including identifying shortages, having up to date knowledge of current position of supply chain and sourcing alternatives including the most appropriate unlicensed medicines.
  • Staff management of the pharmacy purchasing staff, implementation/maintenance of procedures/standards, monitoring of performance and training of staff in areas relating to purchasing and stores.
