At Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, you'll join a friendly, experienced OT team supporting adults with complex cognitive and physical needs following acquired or traumatic brain injury. Our service includes a Level 1 Cognitive-Behavioural ward (21 beds) and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward (18 beds) giving you exposure to a wide range of specialist interventions.

Job responsibilitiesThe Role:
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. This may include one weekend day with a corresponding mid-week day off. The working pattern will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. During this time, your key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the Occupational Therapy team to develop individualised rehabilitation plans based on patients’ goals and functional abilities
- Plan and facilitate group therapy sessions, including upper-limb rehabilitation, cooking groups, and community-based activities.
- Implement therapeutic activities to improve patients’ motor skills, co-ordination, balance, strength and cognitive functioning.
- Work with patients on a 1:1 basis, both within the hospital and in the community, to support the development of domestic, self-care, social, or leisure skills under the guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist, providing updates, queries, or concerns to the multidisciplinary team (MDT) as appropriate.
- Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal rehabilitation outcomes.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their rehabilitation journey.
- Educating patients and their families about strategies for maximising independence and managing challenges related to their condition.
- Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and ensuring the proper use of occupational therapy equipment.
- Participate in staff training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
