Overview
Barts Heart and Thorax Centre (BHTC) is looking for an Advanced Cardiac MRI Radiographer to join our team for a 12-month period to cover maternity leave. The department comprises three Siemens Cardiac MRI scanners and a Siemens Cardiac CT scanner, with 10 Cardiac Catheter Labs and ongoing expansion plans across the site and Trust. We are part of an award-winning, nationally leading Cardiac Imaging department that engages in research and teaching with opportunities to publish and present at conferences.
We are Europe’s largest cardiovascular centre, and we seek a dynamic, enthusiastic professional to work alongside influential Cardiac MRI specialists and researchers within a multidisciplinary team.

St Bartholomew's Hospital, West Smithfield, London EC1A 7BE
. Working pattern: 4x 9.5-hour shifts per week, with optional weekend lists on staff bank. Band 7, Fixed-term, 12 months. Date posted: 16 January 2026. Salary: £56,276 to £63,176 per annum (Agenda for Change).

Job responsibilities- Work as an Advanced Radiographer specialized in Cardiac MRI, managing a variable caseload of patients.
- Advocate for radiographer professional development and support specialist radiographer education and training.
- Carry out appropriate diagnostic procedures to support the diagnosis of complex conditions.
- Supervise, support and assist students and junior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.

Person SpecificationEssential – Experience
- Demonstrable evidence of expert Cardiac MRI radiographic experience.
- Advanced knowledge in Cardiac MRI imaging/procedure.
- Experience of working with junior staff and students.
Desirable – Experience
- Experience in pursuing innovation and role development in Cardiac MRI radiography.
- Experience in more than one hospital.
- Evidence of first-line management experience.
Essential – Skills
- Advanced knowledge in a range of Cardiac MRI imaging techniques and innovations.
- Advocacy for patients and ability to teach and train with adaptable styles for trainees.
- Team player with enthusiasm for Cardiac radiography and ability to engage staff at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage interruptions, embrace new ideas and concepts.
- Very high personal and radiographic standards with attention to detail.
- Ability to use initiative, solve problems and make decisions.
Desirable – Knowledge
- Participation in QA programmes and maintenance of agreed standards.
Essential – Qualifications
- BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
- State Registration
Desirable – Qualifications
- Postgraduate specialist training equivalent to Master’s level.
Essential – Other
- Requirement to work some late duties and weekends
- Ability to manage own workload and diary
- Sufficient to perform duties with aids and adaptations
