We are an award-winning psychology/therapy led interdisciplinary pain management team serving the people of Hackney and the City. We are seeking a psychologist (clinical, counselling or health psychologist) or CBT therapist with experience of working with clients with long term health conditions, to join our vibrant & highly skilled MDT. The team works in a psychologically informed way and the MDT are trained to use an acceptance and commitment framework to support our patients to live well even in the presence of pain.
Psychological therapy is both highly valued and well-established within the team & the successful applicant would work as a member of a team of psychologists who are skilled in a range of approaches including ACT, CBT, mindfulness & compassion focused approaches.
The successful applicant will assess & manage a caseload of patients with persistent pain on a 1:1 basis and will work alongside MDT colleagues to deliver our pain management group programme & to other groups. There will be opportunities for close interdisciplinary working, research, teaching, training & contributing to service development.
The candidate will also provide supervision to our band 7 psychologist &/or band 5 assistant psychologists & supervision/consultancy to the wider MDT. We place a strong emphasis on CPD through team-based training & support for attending external courses. Regular supervision would be provided by the 8b psychologists within the service.
Main duties of the job- To work as a part of a psychology team that provides specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy to individual patients.
- To work alongside MDT colleagues to deliver our pain management group programme and to assist in the ongoing development of our group programmes.
- To provide advice and consultation on patients psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team s policies and procedures.
- Triage, case manage and sign-post patients with complex needs.
- To supervise band 7 psychologists, doctoral trainees, psychology assistants and associates when necessary.
- Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
- Risk management and referral on to other mental health services as appropriate to need.
- Develop the provision of psychological services within the multi-disciplinary teams where based, including maintaining good working relationships with other clinical staff.
- Provide specialist psychological training, supervision, guidance and consultation to other professionals.
- Develop effective links and referral pathways with acute, primary, and secondary care teams providing care for patients with health conditions, including arrangements for communication and joint working.

Job responsibilitiesKey Working Relationships
To work closely with the other clinical/counselling psychologists working in the locomotor service.
- To develop and maintain good working relationships with all staff in the Locomotor service, with the purpose of facilitating patient care, planning and dissemination of relevant information.
- To liaise with relevant others in the locomotor service, Primary Care and Acute Trusts and members of other disciplines and agencies responsible for a patient s care.
