Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a post as a Tissue Bank Technician within the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund Tissue Bank, the first and only national pancreatic biobank with ISO accreditation regulated by the HTA.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure equipment is well-maintained and consumable stock levels are maintained at all sites.
  • Ensure all samples are logged and maintained to HTA and PCRFTB standards.
  • Perform laboratory techniques such as organoid maintenance, DNA and RNA extraction, H&E slides analysis.
  • Support the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

This is a hands-on, multi-site role ideal for someone with a dynamic outlook and passion for supporting translational research and effective communication skills.

About the Organisation

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund Tissue Bank is the first and only national pancreatic biobank with ISO accreditation regulated by the HTA. The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care.

BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics. It is one of six institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD).
