Position Overview

We are transforming North London Foundation Trust Teams in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24 and are looking for skilled, innovative clinical and counselling psychologists to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of more integrated ways of working in mental health.

The transformation of community mental health services aims to break down the barriers to care, by integrating primary and secondary care services and delivering a model that improves access to holistic approaches for our service users. The role will provide an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to lead the psychological provision in Islington Core Teams.

The post will join a multi-disciplinary leadership team to develop and operationally manage an integrated and enhanced community approach to clients experiencing mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Operational and Clinical Leads to ensure delivery of a high quality, accessible, and inclusive psychological service well integrated within community teams.
  • Play a key part in the implementation and management of newly developing psychology hubs within each borough to support more effective coordination and delivery of psychological interventions.
  • Draw on a range of psychological approaches to help establish psychologically and trauma‑informed practice within the teams and wider service area through delivering and overseeing interventions, providing consultation, training and reflective practice as required.
  • Engage in service development, quality improvement and innovative practice in line with transformation objectives.
  • Collaborate with other psychological professions and partner with health, social care and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCS).
  • Work flexibly, independently and responsively within a changing environment; enjoy outreach and multi‑agency joint working.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working with people with complex mental health difficulties from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in direct working with service users with complex needs; supervision and line management experience is essential; experience of service development.
  • Confidence in liaising and communicating with staff from a variety of professional backgrounds and experience of multi‑disciplinary team working.
  • Flexibility to work independently and responsively within a changing environment.
