Location: Greater London

We are looking for an experienced,motivated and dynamic Pharmacy Technician tohelp to continue our work to establishverification of prescriptions for selected Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) by Pharmacy Technicians.

Based at St Bartholomew's Hospital and embedded within our large Oncology Pharmacy team, you will be well supported to develop this exciting, innovativerole. This is the second Pharmacy Technician role we have established undertaking this novel work.

You will be provided in depth training and will undertaking verification and clinical release of SACT doses once fully accredited

Main duties of the job

Chemotherapy Delivery & Safety

Check and release ready-made and manufactured chemotherapy doses.

Resolve errors and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Verify prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness.

Confirm patient parameters (blood results, physical assessments) before authorising doses.

Clinical Support

Support cancer ward services, including medicines reconciliation and dispensary checks.

Service Development & Compliance

Develop services in line with Trust policies and strategy.

Maintain adherence to internal/external procedures and good practice standards.

Performance Monitoring

Record and report key indicators (KQIs, chemotherapy wastage).

Conduct Controlled Drug audits regularly

Person Specification Qualifications
  • BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences /NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Practice Supervisor, Train the trainer or equivalent qualification
  • ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent
Experience
  • Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy setting
  • Significant experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Medicines management experience in a ward-based setting, e.g medication history taking, POD assessment etc.
  • Dispensing
  • Pharmacy labelling and stock control systems
  • Patient counselling
  • Experience of pharmacy stock distribution and top-up services
  • Experience of implementing change
  • Experience of managing or supervising a small team of staff
  • Experience of training staff, giving staff developmental feedback and implementing training plans
  • Experience of recruitment and selection
  • Leadership experience within a pharmacy service, including organising a service on a day-to-day basis
  • Experience in working in a cancer pharmacy service
