Monday–Friday, approx. 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (term time only).

About the SettingWe're working with a warm, inclusive SEN Unit in Bexley that seeks a calm, dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The setting prides itself on providing a nurturing, structured environment where every child's unique needs are met with compassion, consistency and expertise.
The children you'll support have a range of special educational needs, each with their own strengths, challenges and ways of communicating. They need adults who can follow personalised plans, encourage independence and adapt learning and interactions to suit their individual profiles. This is a setting where staff work closely, value each other's strengths and celebrate every small step of progress.
Key Responsibilities- Support children with personalised learning plans and individualised targets.
- Assist with communication, sensory regulation and social interaction.
- Provide calm, nurturing support to help children feel safe and ready to learn.
- Adapt activities to meet a range of learning and developmental needs.
- Support with care routines where necessary (e.g. feeding, toileting, mobility).
- Work collaboratively with the SEN team, therapists and teachers.
- Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all students in your care.
- A highly supportive, collaborative SEN team.
- Training in safeguarding, SEN strategies, communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton), sensory needs and behaviour support.
- Guidance from skilled leaders who prioritise staff and student wellbeing.
- A friendly, valued working environment where every role makes a difference.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Is patient, adaptable and confident working with a range of needs.
- Can remain calm and reassuring in both structured and challenging moments.
- Has experience in SEN settings (specialist units, mainstream schools or care/therapy roles).
- Is looking for a meaningful part‑time role during the school day.
