Hours:

36 per week. Start:
Immediate. Salary: £21.64 per hour.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to work in Southwark’s Older People and Physical Disabilities Service. Based at our modern offices on Queens Road in lively Peckham, this role offers the opportunity to play an integral part in enabling our residents to maximise their independence and empower them to achieve their goals.

About the Service

Assessment and Intake is a team of Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Assistant Practitioners and is part of Southwark’s Older People and Physical Disabilities service. We carry out strengths‑based intervention that focuses on maximising our residents’ independence and empowering them to achieve their goals.

Southwark is proud of its training offer. For Occupational Therapists we have recently held sessions on OT and the Law, Mental Capacity Act for OTs, regular moving and handling refreshers, and adaptations training from a specialist provider.

Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously and hold a varied caseload.
  • Conduct risk assessment and recommend minor and major adaptations, such as level‑access showers and stairlifts.
  • Provide and recommend moving and handling equipment, including hoists, slings and standing aids.
  • Apply up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant OT legislation, social care challenges and developments.
  • Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and with multiple agencies to support people in achieving their goals and maximizing independence.
Experience
  • Experience working with people who have disabilities, particularly in one‑to‑one situations.
  • Experience facilitating holistic assessments in collaboration with multiple agencies.
Qualifications
  • Recognised diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy and state registration with the Health Care Professionals Council.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills and ability to write reports for agencies, courts and other departments.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate records, conduct financial assessments and assist people with their finances.
  • Proficiency in information technology systems, word processing, and email.
  • Commitment to the Council’s Equality and Diversity policy.
