B6 Cancer Outpatient Occupational Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity to join our outpatient Occupational Therapy cancer rehabilitation team, covering clinics at Guy's Cancer Centre. We are a forward‑thinking and innovative service, with our staff at the centre of achieving the vision for Guy's Cancer.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and motivated Occupational Therapist with excellent clinical, communication, and people‑management skills to join our team and support the ongoing development of the service.
Main duties of the jobOur Cancer Occupational Therapy outpatient service provides specialist cancer rehabilitation and symptom management to support patients' functional well‑being and quality of life at all stages of their pathway.
This includes targeted one‑to‑one and group rehabilitation programmes for symptoms such as cancer‑related fatigue, sleep disturbance, cancer‑related cognitive impairment, breathlessness and chemo‑induced peripheral neuropathy.
Currently this role predominantly works and oversees the treatment effects clinic caseload, working closely with the B7 OT working in the same clinic and has lots of support from the other senior OTs working in the cancer outpatient team.
We provide a wide core training programme and this post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and expand your professional development. The service actively engages with and contributes to wider local and national agendas for cancer care, including presenting multiple pieces of project work at national and international conferences.

Person Specification- Postgraduate experience in physical disability.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience in:
Oncology within a specialist centre / Palliative Care / Neurosciences / Frailty.
- Ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of Occupational Therapy process within a cancer service relating to client‑centred practice.
- Knowledge and understanding of activity/occupation in relation to work and well‑being.
- Demonstrate sound techniques in applying a range of specialist sensory, physical and manual assessments and treatments.
- Ability to support, supervise and educate students on practice placements, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Technical Instructors.
- Proven experience in developing and providing education and teaching programmes to other professionals and students.
- Understand and apply principles of risk management to clinical practice.
- Previous experience of research and audit.
- Adherence to College of Occupational Therapy and HPC guidelines and codes of ethics and professional conduct.
- Membership of Occupational Therapy special interest groups.
