We are seeking experienced Ophthalmology Nurses currently working at the equivalent of a Band 5 who are motivated to develop their intravitreal injection skillset or who already possess this competency.
This role element includes two weekly intravitreal injection sessions at a Band 6 level, which does include flexibility to cover additional ad-hoc sessions during planned or unplanned staffing gaps. The post involves cross-site working across our South Sites Ophthalmology Services at Orpington Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital.

Main duties of the jobMain Duties and
Responsibilities include:
- Provide expert, holistic, and high-quality care to patients and their families within King’s College Hospital.
- Take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of, or as delegated by, the Ward Sister, Charge Nurse, or Head of Department.
- Assist in the leadership, supervision, and development of a designated group of nurses within the department.
- Act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as required.
- Undertake two intravitreal injection sessions per week, plus an additional session every other week to support unplanned/planned activity or injector leave.
- Serve as a positive role model for junior staff, promoting a culture of high-quality, courteous, patient‑focused care.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is always upheld and that professional standards are consistently maintained.
