Overview

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join the multi‑professional team working in Adult Heart Therapies at the Royal Brompton Hospital. This individual would work alongside and be supported by a friendly therapies team. Your role would include working with inpatients and involve the following tasks:

  • Assisting in the provision of care to patients, supported and supervised by senior therapists
  • Carrying out clinical tasks (such as supervision of daily individual physiotherapy and occupational therapy rehabilitation)

This post would suit someone who is thinking of a return to practice (Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy), or someone wanting experience prior to further training in any of these professions.

There will be regular supervision, training, and support from highly skilled therapists to address learning needs and personal development. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will work as an integral and active part of the Adult Heart Therapy Team. They will be responsible for supporting the Therapy team in the provision of a patient‑centred service, in an efficient and cost‑effective way.
  • The post holder will assist in the provision of care to patients, supported and supervised by senior therapists.
  • The post holder will carry out clinical tasks to support the therapy team. This will predominantly be the physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams and will involve daily individual rehabilitation and developmental sessions, joint sessions for complex patients with qualified therapists.
  • The post holder will carry out clinical assessments independently, within their Assistant Practitioner competency framework. They will assist in the initial generic therapy assessment of referrals to the adult heart therapy team.
  • The post holder will continue individualised rehabilitation and developmental programmes with patients and progress and review these with support from qualified therapists as appropriate.
  • The post holder will be based at The Royal Brompton Hospital but may need to move between hospital sites for work as required.

  • To work as a core member of the Heart Therapy Team.
  • To work effectively within the Multidisciplinary Team and commit to providing quality care and service development by participating in, and contributing to, quality improvement initiatives.
