We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the specialist rehabilitation offered at St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit in Kings Cross.
The inpatient neuro rehabilitation based at St Pancras Hospital has been expanded to include an additional 6 beds on Rochester East Ward. The team provides neurorehabilitation and occupational therapy intervention for adults with neurological conditions, primarily stroke and brain injury. Occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy and psychology professionals work together to meet the intensity of rehabilitation required for these patients. The therapy team promotes recovery, independence, community integration and self‑management where appropriate.
Work with clients can range from short assessment/treatment episodes to several weeks of intense specialist rehabilitation or complex discharge planning, always following a goal‑oriented approach. The post holder may also take on a small general rehabilitation caseload (e.g., amputee rehabilitation, patients with a history of falling). The primary caseload consists of Level 2 and Level 3 patients requiring neurological rehabilitation.
The team is committed to a clinical governance programme and encourages evidence‑based practice, research, quality improvement and audit participation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a complex neurological caseload using evidence-based clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments, goal setting, personalised rehabilitation and disability management.
- Work flexibly with all team members to deliver an integrated rehabilitation service in accordance with the team’s philosophy and operational policies. At times this includes supporting a small number of general rehabilitation patients (e.g., frailty, falls, amputee) alongside the primary neurological caseload.
- Support the maintenance and further development of a high‑quality, efficient and effective Occupational Therapy Service within a multidisciplinary context, in line with organisational philosophy and operational policies.
- Supervise and monitor junior staff, including Band 5 OTs, rehabilitation assistants and OT students; cross‑discipline working may be required to supervise staff from other professions.
- Actively engage in a wide range of Continuing Professional Development activities.
