Job Description
:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Band 6/7 Locum Speech and Language Therapist to join the Merton Neuro Rehab Team in South West London. This is a community-based role offering flexibility with full‑time or part‑time hours. The role involves managing a varied caseload of adult patients with conditions including stroke, acquired brain injury (ABI), Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), dysphagia, aphasia, and motor speech disorders.

You will be responsible for both initial and follow‑up assessments, which are scheduled for you, ensuring a structured caseload. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and follow‑up assessments for patients with neurological conditions and communication disorders, including stroke, ABI, Parkinson’s, MND, MS, dysphagia, aphasia, and motor speech disorders.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide interventions to help patients regain and improve communication and swallowing function.
  • Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient care.
  • Schedule and manage your own caseload efficiently.
  • Document and maintain accurate patient records in line with professional standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and supervision sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with adult neurological patients, including those with stroke, ABI, Parkinson’s, MND, MS, dysphagia, aphasia, and motor speech disorders.
  • Experience in community settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work independently.
  • Valid UK driving licence is desirable (as this is a community‑based role).
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
