OverviewWe are looking for motivated and caring Ambulance Drivers to join the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) at Barts Health. Our NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need.
Transport is only provided for patients coming from their home addresses to North East London NHS Trust locations. Transport is also provided for patients going home from a North East London NHS Trust location to a booked address stated by the ward or clinic anywhere in the mainland UK.
The NEPTS Ambulance Driver performs a key role in providing a safe transport service for patients requiring transport to and from the Trust's hospitals, ensuring that all patients are transported in a timely manner in comfort and with minimal stress. The Ambulance Driver is also responsible for conducting dynamic risk assessments of patients and/or their environment prior to transport.

Responsibilities- Transport patients to and from the Trust's hospitals in a timely, comfortable, and minimally stressful manner.
- Conduct dynamic risk assessments of patients and their environment prior to transport.
- Maintain patient transport vehicles in a clean, tidy, and operational condition.
- Report immediately any vehicle defects or accidents.
- Assist with moving patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, wheelchair‑secure vehicles, or car‑suitable arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and required competency standards.
