Opening Paragraph: The Royal London Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6/7 Locum Adult Neuro Speech and Language Therapist to join our Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation Unit (RAAR). This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality speech and language therapy services to patients with neurological and trauma impairments. This position is available immediately and offers both full-time and part-time options on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities: As a Band 6/7 Locum Adult Neuro Speech and Language Therapist you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality speech and language therapy service to patients engaging in Level 1 equivalent rehabilitation following major trauma. This includes conducting advanced assessments and treatments, providing individual and group education and therapy, and working closely with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) in goal setting, rehabilitation planning, and family meetings.

You will treat a wide range of conditions, including disorders of consciousness, cognitive communication disorders, and aphasia. Experience in both in-patient and community settings is desirable, and you should have experience delivering communication rehabilitation at a high level. Your key skills should include competence in assessing capacity, higher-level cognitive deficits in the context of potential return to work or home, and complex discharge planning.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proven experience in providing speech and language therapy services to adults with neurological and trauma impairments.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest advancements in speech and language therapy.
  • Experience in both in-patient and community settings is desirable.
